SUNDAY 11th MAY 2014
It was great to see more than 500 visitors at the 2013 Textile Fair, and we are already busy preparing for our fourth Textile Fair, set to be even bigger and better in 2014! Have a look below for highlights from this year’s event.
Be sure to save the date and keep checking this page for updates!
Advanced tickets for the 2014 Textile Fair will be available from www.wegottickets.com
Tickets permit unlimited access across venues on the day.
Among the many stall holders at the Warner Textile Archive and Braintree Town Hall, we were delighted to see author and textile expert John Gillow, Mary Goldberg from Stockwell Ceramics, African-textile expert Magie Relph, and Jean and Susan from Natural Yarn. There were also inspiring talks from author Liz Trenow, indigo dyer Joyce Parker and smocking expert Clarissa Cochran and others.
A pop-up tearoom at Braintree Town Hall proved popular with all our visitors, serving organic tea and coffee, handmade cakes, scones and sandwiches. Meanwhile, Jan Weavers, a former employee of Warner & Sons, hosted special tours of the Archive Store, offering visitors a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into quilting and patchwork designs held in the Collection. Angela Massey from Sharp Tomato kindly donated a fabulous hand-beaded needlework set, featuring river pearls and Swarovski crystals, to our raffle.
Thank you to all the volunteers, visitors and supporters who helped to make the Textile Fair a huge success in 2013 – we hope to see you all again next year!
All proceeds from events held by the Warner Textile Archive, including the Textile Fair, contribute to the conservation of the Collection.
