Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the Archive is currently closed and will remain so until the Government advise it is safe for Museums to open again. This closure has meant we have had to cancel our programme of events, workshops and study days until June. We are hoping we will be able to resume running workshops thereafter. Unfortunately, the 10th anniversary Braintree Textile Fair had to be cancelled but we will be back in 2021 with our new two-day event that will be bigger than ever!
Due to the outbreak we have had to delay the start of our celebrations for our 150th anniversary year, ‘150 years of Warners: Luxury Textiles since 1870’. During the anniversary year we had a special programme of study days, reunions and an exciting new Warner Gallery opening at Braintree Museum. All of these will be reprogrammed for later in the year and we look forward to celebrating with you then.
As a result of the changing work patterns implemented by the COVID-19 measures Braintree District Museum Trust have made the decision to furlough two members of staff at both the Warner Textile Archive and Braintree Museum. The staff will remain furloughed until the Government release new guidance on the working patterns during the pandemic. There is a skeletal staff presence to ensure the care of the buildings and collections, so if you need to get in contact with us please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond.
Stay in Contact
You can still stay in contact with us via e-mail and social media as follows:
Today is my (Katie Martin’s) last day working for the Archive as I pursue new opportunities in events and marketing nearer home. I have been at the Archive for nearly six years and many of you will have been in contact with me if you’ve ever been to a workshop, event or the Textile Fair or even read the newsletter that gets sent out monthly. It’s been a wonderful six years and I look forward to seeing how the Archive continues to flourish and actually attending a Textile Fair!
Take care and stay safe during these challenging times and we look forward to seeing you all later in the year.
Katie and the Archive Team.
